The demand for dental services in Hong Kong is substantial, leading to a long-term shortage of not only registered dentists but dental surgery assistants as well. Embarking on a career as a dental assistant allows you to help others while enjoying greater job stability and a more attractive income than many other industries. This course provides a prime entry opportunity for those aspiring to join the field, covering daily clinic operations and the specific duties of a dental assistant. By equipping students with both professional knowledge and practical skills, the program significantly enhances graduates’ employment prospects. This ten-week, part-time certificate course consists of 30 hours of training; students who successfully complete the program and pass the requirements will be awarded a Dental Surgery Assistant Certificate. Furthermore, the top three graduates with outstanding performance will be offered positions as Trainee Dental Surgery Assistants. (Terms and conditions apply; please call for further inquiries.)

Upon completion of the course, students will be able to master:

  1. Customer reception and patient registration.
  2. Managing patient records, daily clinic correspondence, and filing systems.
  3. Assisting dentists during clinical treatments.
  4. Correct application of dental instruments and materials.
  5. Cleaning and sterilization of dental tools and the implementation of proper infection control procedures.
  6. Maintaining records and controlling clinic inventory.
  7. Handling daily clinic financial transactions and billing.
  8. Entry Requirements: Completion of Form 5 (Old Secondary School System) or Form 6 (New Senior Secondary System); or equivalent qualifications.

Course Information

  • Schedule: Every Tuesday, 10 sessions in total.
  • Total Hours: 30 hours.
  • Time: 6:30 PM to 9:30 PM (3 hours per session).
  • Venue: Units 703-4, 7/F, Office Tower One, Grand Plaza, 639 Nathan Road, Mong Kok.
  • Faculty: Practicing senior dentists, senior dental hygienists, and dental surgery assistants.
  • Medium of Instruction: Conducted in Cantonese. Course materials are primarily in Chinese, with technical terms supplemented in English.
